Belges en guerre
Images inconnues, histoires insolites
Throughout its history, Belgium has been involved in various armed conflicts across the world. The most striking are undoubtedly the two World Wars and the Congo independence crisis in the 1960s, but they are not the only ones.
Under the direction of historians Bruno De Wever, Martine Van Asch and Rudi Van Doorslaer, twenty authors portray individuals who were involved in one of these conflicts in one way or another, using previously unpublished photographs, all of which have something unique to tell us. Belgians at War thus confronts us in a compelling way with the question of whether pictures reveal the true face of war.
This well illustrated book was published for the exhibition with the same name which was held from 16 November 2012 to 21 April 2013 at St. Peter's Abbey in Ghent.
An opportunity to learn about the great History, through individual life stories.
