Trains and the Holocaust. From a Symbol of Progress to a Genocidal Tool.
Conference at Kazerne Dossin
On 26 April 2022, Europalia organizes the conference "Trains and the Holocaust. From a Symbol of Progress to a Genocidal Tool". Several speakers will look at different aspects of the role that trains played in the deportation of Jews and Roma from Mechelen. In the morning session, Nico Wouters (CegeSoma/State Archives) will give a brief talk about the role of the NMBS/SNCB and the policy of cooperation with the German occupier and Koen Aerts (UGent-CegeSoma/State Archives) about the attack on the XXth convoy.
The conference takes place in Kazerne Dossin and starts at 9.00 am. The official language is English.
