Enfants de résistants. Belgique. 1940-1945. (Children of Resistance fighters. Belgium.1940-1945.).
Documentary Film.
In Belgium, Resistance against the Nazi regime during the Second World War is virtually absent from the collective memory. However, the actions of the heroes and heroines of the underground were often fraught with consequences: arrest, torture, imprisonment, deportation to camps in Germany and sometimes - often - death. Their children had to cope with fear, uncertainty and absence. While feelings of pride and glory are present in some families, for others, silence and even suffering still weigh heavily.
The RTBF met these witnesses and produced a French-language documentary film on this subject titled: 'Enfants de résistants. Belgique. 1940-1945'.
Scheduled on La Une (Channel One), Wednesday, 1 November 2023 from 8:15pm to 9:50pm, it addresses the many ways of growing up as children of resistance fighters, and confronts memory with historical fact́ in a search for truth́.
The Archives Service for War Victims and CegeSoma contributed to the making of this documentary by providing archive documents and film locations. CegeSoma also provided scientific advice.
