Matthew Haultain-Gall voltooide in 2017 een PhD aan de University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australië) en hij is de auteur van The Battlefield of Imperishable Memory: Passchendaele and the Anzac Legend, dat in 2021 werd gepubliceerd door Monash University Publishing. Naast zijn werk als onafhankelijk historicus, dat zich richt op de culturele en sociale gevolgen van oorlog, heeft hij bij het CegeSoma gewerkt als onderzoeker aan verschillende European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) projecten, namelijk EHRI-2 en EHRI-Preparatory Phase (EHRI-PP). In februari 2024 is hij weer terug bij het CegeSoma als onderzoeker voor het EHRI-Implementation Phase (EHRI-IP) project.
