The Korean War and Belgium

On 25 June 1950, troops from communist North Korea invaded capitalist South Korea. The civil war on the Korean peninsula soon turned into an international military conflict, in which also Belgian soldiers took part.
Meanwhile, we are 75 years on and this quickly “forgotten war” is in danger of fading even further from collective memory.
On 19 September 2025, CegeSoma is therefore organizing a workshop on the Korean War. The focus will be on the sources for studying the Belgian dimensions of this conflict that ushered in the hottest years of the Cold War. We would like to welcome you to our conference room on that day.
